The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Grace Ike, has felicitated Muslim faithful in the Federal Capital Territory and across Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Maulid celebration.

Maulid commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ike described the occasion as an important reminder of the Prophet’s exemplary life and teachings, particularly his virtues of peace, compassion, justice, humility, honesty and love for humanity.

She urged journalists to draw inspiration from these values in the discharge of their professional responsibilities.

"At a time when our nation needs greater unity, tolerance and mutual understanding, the teachings of the Prophet provide enduring lessons on peaceful coexistence and respect for one another,” she said.

Ike called on Muslim faithful to use the celebration to pray for peace, stability and prosperity in Nigeria while promoting dialogue, tolerance and mutual respect among the country’s diverse communities.

She said the NUJ FCT Council remained committed to promoting responsible journalism, professional excellence and values that strengthen democracy and society.
