PRESS RELEASE NAWOJ KANO CONGRATULATES COMRADE HAUWA ZAHRADDEN ON HER CONFIRMATION AS THE FIRST FEMALE SECRETARY OF NUJ KANO

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kano State Chapter, warmly congratulates Comrade Hauwa Zahradden on her confirmation as the first female Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council.

Comrade Hauwa Zahradden, who previously served as the Assistant Secretary of NUJ Kano, has now been confirmed as Secretary, making history as the first woman to occupy the position in the Kano State Council.

NAWOJ Kano commends the leadership of the NUJ Kano State Council, under the Chairmanship of Comrade Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi, as well as the NUJ National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, for fostering an environment that recognises and supports the participation of women in leadership within the journalism profession.

Speaking on the development, the Chairperson of NAWOJ Kano, Sayyida Bahijja Malam Kabara, described Comrade Hauwa Zahradden’s confirmation as a significant milestone and a great honour to all NAWOJians and women journalists across Kano State.

She said the historic development is a source of pride for women journalists, noting that having the first female Secretary of NUJ Kano represents a positive step towards greater inclusion and participation of women in the leadership of the journalism profession.

According to Sayyida Bahijja Kabara, Comrade Hauwa’s new position will further strengthen the confidence of female journalists and make them feel more welcomed, represented and valued within the NUJ family.

She expressed confidence that Comrade Hauwa Zahradden will bring her experience, professionalism and dedication to the new responsibility and contribute meaningfully to the growth and unity of the journalism profession in Kano State.

NAWOJ Kano wishes Comrade Hauwa Zahradden a successful tenure and looks forward to stronger cooperation between NUJ and NAWOJ in advancing the welfare, professional development and leadership opportunities of journalists, particularly women journalists.
