The National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Alhassan Yahaya Abdullahi, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Dutse, Dr Hamim Nuhu Sunusi at his Palace in Dutse.
Speaking, Abdullahi, said the delegation was in the state ahead of the 2026 National Executive Council (NEC) meeting scheduled to hold in Dutse.
He said that the visit was to seek for
royal blessings, ahead of the meeting, adding that the NUJ would also confer on him an investiture as a grand patron of the union.
Alhassan also solicited for the cooperation and support of the royal father in sensitising the public on developmental activities that would foster growth and peaceful coexistence in society.
In his response, the Emir of Dutse, Dr Hamim Nuhu Sunusi, commended the NUJ for its efforts in educating the people and for reporting accurately in line with professional ethics and values.
He, however, expressed dismay over the activities of social media bloggers, lamenting that individual posed as a journalist and post fake news capable of triggering insecurity and violence in the community.
Earlier, the Chairman of the NUJ Jigawa State Chapter, Comrade Ismail Ibrahim Dutse, welcomed all the participants and outlined the purpose of the visit to the royal father.
The meeting would be attended by members of the NUJ National Executive Committee, Zonal Chairman and Secretary, as well as Chairmen and Secretaries from the 36 states of the federation.(The syndicate news)
