The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has inaugurated a five-member Credentials Committee to conduct the union's election during its forthcoming Triennial Delegates Conference scheduled for October 2026.
The committee members were nominated and approved during the union's congress held at the NUJ Press Centre, Maryam Babangida Way, Asaba, today Tuesday, 28/07/26.
While inaugurating the committee, the Chairman of the NUJ Delta State Council, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, charged its members to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, transparency and impartiality, stressing the need to uphold the democratic principles of the union and ensure a credible electoral process.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, the Chairman, Comrade Victor Eyaguobor, expressed appreciation to the congress for the confidence reposed in the committee, assuring members that they would conduct a free, fair and transparent exercise.
Eyaguobor pledged that the committee would remain impartial and provide a level playing field for all aspirants and stakeholders, noting that every decision would be guided by the NUJ Constitution and the principles of justice and fairness.
He expressed optimism that the forthcoming election would be peaceful and devoid of the controversies that had characterised some previous exercises.This committee will be fair to everyone. We are committed to ensuring a transparent and credible election. We do not want a situation where every election ends in disputes. This time, we are determined to deliver a process that all members can be proud of. We appreciate the confidence reposed in us and we assure you that we will not disappoint," Eyaguobor stated.
The committee has Comrade Victor Eyaguobor as Chairman and Comrade Abel Johngold as Secretary.
Other members are Comrade Mathias Ogbagah, Comrade Mrs. Kessiena Egajivwie, and Chief Akpokona Omafuaire.
