PRINCESS ELAYO TEAMS UP WITH WOMEN JOURNALIST FOR COMMUNITY SENSITIZATION IN NASARAWA STATE

Princess Dr. Margaret Elayo, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, who also doubles as the Covering Commissioner for Women Affairs and Humanitarian Services, has pledged a strategic partnership with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) to enhance the safety and welfare of women and children across the state.

The Commissioner made this commitment during a reception for NAWOJ members, led by Chairperson Comrade Mercy Tanze Zabadi, in Lafia on Monday

Elayo said media played a pivotal role in amplifying issues affecting women and children, stating that collaboration with NAWOJ would be instrumental in sensitizing communities on government policies and programmes designed for their benefit.

She commended NAWOJ for its consistency and professionalism, urging members to continue responsible reporting for societal development.

Dr. Elayo reiterated the Ministry's dedication to creating an enabling environment where women and children can thrive, and to proactively address cases of abuse, neglect, and gender-based violence.

Earlier, Comrade Mercy Tanze Zabadi, NAWOJ Chairperson in Nasarawa State, stated that the purpose of their visit was to seek a robust partnership with the Ministry to advance and protect the rights of women and children.

Comrade Zabadi assured Commissioner Dr. Elayo of NAWOJ's unwavering readiness to leverage its platform for promoting positive stories, advocacy campaigns, and public awareness on crucial issues affecting women and children throughout the state.
