The Rivers State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the alleged killing of a former Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Khana Local Government Area, Hon. Letam Kinee, popularly known as \"Langa,\" who was reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Bori, Khana LGA.
The Command, reacting to reports circulating on social media, confirmed that the deceased\'s body has been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while detectives have begun efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident and track down those responsible.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Blessing Agabe Korborlo, said a full-scale investigation was already underway to ensure those behind the killing are identified and brought to justice.
According to her, although the family of the deceased has yet to make a formal complaint to the Police, they have been advised to do so as it would support ongoing investigations and facilitate the speedy administration of justice.
\"The body of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while a full investigation has commenced to identify and bring those responsible to justice. Although the family of the deceased has not yet lodged a formal complaint with the Police, they are strongly advised to do so, as this will aid ongoing investigations and facilitate the prompt administration of justice,\" the Police spokesperson stated.
She reaffirmed the Command\'s commitment to ensuring that everyone connected with the incident is identified, arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Police also appealed to residents to remain calm and assist investigators with credible information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects, assuring the public that every effort is being made to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing.(Gist E-paper)
