Children of journalists in Ondo State were treated to a colourful end-of-session party in Akure as the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council, and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) jointly organised a celebration to mark the commencement of the long vacation.
The event, held at the NUJ Press Centre in Alagbaka, Akure, drew a large turnout of journalists’ children, who enjoyed an atmosphere of fun, excitement and fellowship.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Ondo State NUJ, Prince Leke Adegbite, said the gathering was organised to reward the children for successfully completing the academic session and to usher them into the holiday on a cheerful note.
He encouraged them to remain well-behaved throughout the vacation, support their parents with household responsibilities and make productive use of the holiday.
Also addressing the children, the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Ondo State Chapter, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi, said the celebration was designed to create lasting memories while strengthening the bond of love and togetherness among the children.
She urged them to obey their parents, stay security conscious and enjoy their holiday responsibly.
In her goodwill message, the Vice President of NAWOJ Zone B, Comrade Adeola Omosola, encouraged the children to make their parents proud through exemplary conduct and dedication to their studies.
Mrs. Damilola Oshin also advised the children to be respectful, God-fearing and obedient. She urged them to remain committed to their academic work during the holiday while assisting their parents whenever necessary.
The event featured a variety of recreational activities, games and entertainment, with the children receiving gifts before returning home.
Among dignitaries at the occasion were heads of media organisations in the state, including the General Manager of Radio Nigeria Positive FM, Akure, Mr. Steve Omonagbe, represented by Mrs. Bukola Bardi of the News Department; the General Manager of NTA Akure, Mrs. Olubunmi One, represented by the Head of News, Mrs. Olubukola Aduwo; and the General Manager of Crest FM Akure, Mr. Godday Ighoteguono.(News Vault)
