Kidnapped Kebbi High Court Judge Regains Freedom After One Week in Captivity

Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza of the Kebbi State High Court has regained his freedom after spending about one week in the custody of his abductors.

The judge’s release was confirmed on Monday by a member of his family, who disclosed that Justice Bunza returned home safely earlier in the day, bringing an end to days of anxiety and uncertainty over his whereabouts.

Expressing gratitude over his safe return, the family described the development as a moment of thanksgiving after a difficult week.

"We are filled with joy and gratitude to God for bringing him back safely. It has been a difficult one week, but today our family is celebrating his return,” the family member said.

The family also appreciated the Kebbi State Judiciary, security agencies, friends and residents of the state for their support throughout the period of the judge’s abduction.

According to the source, the prayers, encouragement and solidarity shown by well wishers helped the family remain hopeful until Justice Bunza regained his freedom.

Although the circumstances surrounding his release were not immediately disclosed, the development has been welcomed by members of the legal community and residents of Kebbi State, who had expressed concern over the abduction of the judicial officer.
