President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday urged state governors to remain committed to improving the welfare of Nigerians, stressing that investment in the people is the most profitable venture in a democracy.
The President spoke in Yola during the commissioning of major projects executed by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration.
President Tinubu said good governance must respond to the aspirations and needs of citizens, adding that democracy thrives when leaders implement policies that uplift the quality of life across communities.
He called on governors nationwide to sustain efforts in economic growth, infrastructure development, healthcare delivery, education reform, and social protection, while strengthening collaboration between the federal and state governments to ensure progress reaches the grassroots.
Tinubu also hailed Fintiri’s leadership, describing him as a reflection of national unity and calling on citizens to offer their full cooperation to enable leaders deliver on their mandates.
In his address, Governor Fintiri outlined a range of completed and ongoing projects in the state, including the Yola Model School, expanded High Court complex, the dualised Gimba Road, and a new NYSC orientation camp nearing completion — which he revealed will be named after President Tinubu.
He said his administration has employed 5,000 teachers and is tackling water scarcity and security challenges.
The President expressed optimism about Adamawa’s prospects and reaffirmed his call for inclusive leadership that places citizens at the heart of governance.(News pointer)
