The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, has tasked Nigerian governors to emulate the developmental initiatives of Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, in their respective states.
Senator Bagudu gave the charge in Bodinga Local Government Area while flagging off the sale of food items at subsidized rates, an initiative introduced by Governor Ahmed Aliyu to cushion the effects of rising food prices in the state.
He commended Governor Aliyu for subsidizing food items for rural dwellers and junior civil servants in the state.
“What you are doing in Sokoto is what every governor should do,” he said.
He added that by subsidizing food items, Governor Aliyu was making food more affordable and accessible to many households, particularly low-income earners and rural dwellers across the state.
Bagudu also commended the foresight of the state government in purchasing the food items from peasant farmers in the state, noting that the initiative would go a long way towards boosting the economic activities of farmers.
“I am very proud of you, and I am also happy to be associated with your administration,” Bagudu said.
The minister further described Governor Aliyu as a humble, shy, courageous and clear-headed leader with strong character, who has consistently followed in the footsteps of the State APC leader, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
He also praised Senator Wamakko for his tireless efforts towards promoting Nigeria’s unity, as well as his unalloyed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is undertaking reforms aimed at improving the living conditions of Nigerians, hence the need for all Nigerians to support him in realizing his vision of a better and more prosperous Nigeria.
The minister was later presented with a souvenir by Governor Ahmed Aliyu in appreciation of his acceptance of the state government’s invitation to flag off the sale of the subsidized food items.
