The State House Press Corps, SHPC, has rescheduled its inaugural Annual Dinner to Friday, June 19, 2026. The event will now hold at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja, instead of the initial date of Thursday, June 4, 2026.
SHPC is the group of journalists accredited to cover the President and the presidency. The maiden dinner is billed as a landmark gathering to foster closer engagement between the media and the highest levels of government, while celebrating excellence in presidential reporting.
Tinubu to be decorated Grand Patron
Organizers said the dinner will create a relaxed atmosphere for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to interact one-on-one with journalists who cover him and his administration daily from the Villa.
The event will also mark a historic first for the corps. “For the first time, we are bringing together the crème de la crème of Nigeria’s media industry to honour the dedicated professionals who report from the Villa – a beat that is often demanding and rarely offers public recognition,” SHPC said.
Key highlights include the recognition and formal decoration of President Tinubu as Grand Patron of the State House Press Corps.
Dignitaries expected
Vice President Kashim Shettima, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and state governors are among high-profile dignitaries expected at the dinner.
The dinner is being positioned as a milestone event to recognize Villa correspondents and strengthen media-government relations.(Firm News)
