The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested several suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, thieves, and cattle rustlers across different parts of the state.
The Command also recovered a fabricated AK-47 rifle, three motorcycles, and six sheep during a series of intelligence-led operations carried out between May 22 and May 29, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, the successes were achieved under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna A. Yahaya, as part of efforts to safeguard lives and property in the state.
The statement disclosed that detectives attached to the State Intelligence Department arrested three suspected armed robbers identified as Musa, popularly known as “Kala,” 45, of Fateka Settlement; Manu Abdullahi, 30, of Mashin Bura Village in Malam Madori Local Government Area; and Yusuf Ibrahim, 35, of Marke Village in Kaugama Local Government Area.
The suspects were allegedly linked to a series of armed robbery attacks within the Hadejia Emirate.
During a search of Yusuf Ibrahim’s residence, police recovered a fabricated AK-47 rifle believed to have been used in criminal activities.
Police said investigations were ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang currently at large and to recover additional weapons.
In another operation, security operatives foiled a planned kidnapping and arrested two suspects identified as Adamu Gari, 55, of Zabo Kafi Village in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area, and Abdullahi Adamu, 40, of Fatiske Village in Jama’are Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects and their accomplices were allegedly plotting to abduct two individuals from Jama’are town in neighbouring Bauchi State before they were intercepted by police operatives.
The Command noted that the suspects were assisting investigators with useful information that could lead to the arrest of other members of the syndicate.
Similarly, police operatives attached to Gwaram Division arrested two suspected sheep thieves, Mustapha Badamasi, 30, and Khalid Zubairu, 20, in connection with the theft of two sheep.
The stolen animals were recovered, while a Bajaj motorcycle allegedly used by the suspects to carry out the crime was also seized.
In Taura Local Government Area, police arrested two suspected cattle rustlers, Sulaiman Isa, 18, and Ibrahim Muhammad, 30, both residents of Yanyanga Settlement, and recovered four sheep believed to have been stolen.
The suspects have since been arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction.
The police also dismantled an alleged armed robbery gang operating along the Ringim-Chaichai Road following intelligence reports that the suspects had mounted an illegal roadblock to rob motorists.
One suspect, Haruna Adamu, was arrested at the scene, while two others, identified as Ja’o Muhammad, 55, and Ja’o Sabo, were later apprehended during follow-up operations.
Furthermore, the Command recorded success in recovering two stolen Boxer motorcycles.
One of the motorcycles, previously snatched from its owner by armed robbers, was recovered through a joint operation involving police officers and local vigilantes.
Another Boxer motorcycle was recovered at Laraba Village in Dutse Local Government Area after suspected criminals abandoned it and fled upon sighting security personnel.
Police authorities said preliminary investigations suggest the motorcycle was intended for use in criminal activities.
