The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council, has commended Governor Mohammed Umar Bago for his courage, commitment, and steadfastness in accelerating the socio-economic development of the state in line with the objectives of the New Niger Agenda over the past three years.

In a statement marking the governor’s third anniversary in office, the State Secretary of the NUJ, Comrade Usman Chiji, expressed optimism that with the continued support and prayers of the people, Niger State would soon rank among the leading developed states in Northern Nigeria and the country at large.

The union particularly praised Governor Bago for the remarkable achievements recorded in key sectors, including rural infrastructure, agricultural transformation, healthcare delivery, education, civil service reforms, and the prompt payment of workers’ salaries and allowances.

Comrade Chiji noted that all the 25 local government areas of the state have benefited from the administration’s developmental projects, especially the construction and rehabilitation of intra- and inter-local government roads.

According to him, the road projects have significantly eased the movement of goods and services while boosting economic activities at the grassroots level.

The NUJ also expressed satisfaction with the governor’s strides in the education sector, citing the establishment of new universities across the state and the creation of a teaching hospital as major milestones.

While applauding the administration’s achievements, the union urged the APC-led government to prioritise the development of state-owned media organisations through the provision of modern digital facilities to enhance productivity and improve staff welfare.

The NUJ reaffirmed its support and cooperation with the Bago administration and expressed hope that the government would continue to maintain cordial relations with media practitioners in the state to further strengthen the existing partnership.

E-Signed

Comrade Usman Chiji,

Council Secretary
