The Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr. Mohammed Bulama, has praised the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for the donation of broadcast equipment to the Corporation, calling the gesture a significant boost to public broadcasting and national development.
Dr. Bulama made the commendation during a formal handover ceremony at the NEDC headquarters in Maiduguri.
He described the intervention as a symbol of partnership, institutional strengthening, and a collective commitment to restoring the voices and aspirations of communities, particularly those in the North-East region.
The FRCN Director General noted that NEDC’s support reflects an appreciation of broadcasting’s vital role in peacebuilding, security awareness, education, cultural preservation, and the promotion of national unity.
According to him, radio remains the most accessible and trusted medium for millions of Nigerians, especially in rural areas.
He stated that the donated equipment would enhance FRCN’s technical efficiency, signal coverage, and programme quality.
Dr. Bulama added that the intervention would further strengthen Radio Nigeria’s mandate to inform, educate, and unite the nation through credible information dissemination and public enlightenment programmes.
Speaking at the handover, the Managing Director of the NEDC, Muhammad Alkali, said the equipment is part of ongoing efforts to rebuild the North-East region, which has endured years of insurgency and destruction.
He explained that the support holds special significance for the people of the region as it symbolizes resilience, recovery, and progress after years of insecurity.
In addition, the commission donated 130 airport trolleys to six airports across the North-East zone.
Present at the event were the Zonal Director (North-East), the Director of Engineering Services, the Zonal Director North East of the Corporation Zonal Head of Corporate Development and Communication General Manager of Radio Nigeria Peace FM, and other management staff of both the FRCN and NEDC.(Echo Express)
