The Oyo State Police Command has recorded another operational breakthrough following the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol during an intelligence-led stop-and-search operation conducted across the State.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ayanlade Olayinka.
The operation, according to the PRO, was carried out by operatives of the Restore Peace Unit along Old Oyo Road, near American International School, Bethel, Fiditi.
During the exercise, three Suspects reportedly exhibited suspicious behaviour and attempted to flee when attention was drawn to them.
Their action prompted a swift pursuit by the operatives, resulting in their arrest after a brief chase.
A subsequent search of the luggage allegedly linked to the suspects led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol and assorted charms concealed in a nylon bag.
The Command stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the weapon and its intended use, while reaffirming its commitment to intelligence-led policing and urging residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies in the collective fight against crime.(News register.com)
