The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has called on media practitioners nationwide to leverage their platforms, experience, and expertise to expose corrupt practices and raise public awareness about discipline and good conduct.

This resolution emerged during a workshop on Effective Collaboration and Corruption Prevention, organized by the ICPC in partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, ICPC Chairman, emphasized that the media is a critical stakeholder in the fight against corruption, asserting that their role should not be limited to observation but should extend to being active advocates for integrity, transparency, and institutional trust.

He described the engagement with media as an opportunity to strengthen strategic synergies for positive outcomes and assured that the ICPC would uphold the confidence placed in it by the public.

In a lecture titled “Reinvigorating the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (2022-2026): A Post-Assessment Roadmap for the Fourth Estate,” Emeritus Professor Umaru Pate, former Vice Chancellor of Federal University Kashere, urged journalists to engage in more investigative reporting to uncover abuses of office and corruption.

The NUJ President, Alhaji Alhassan Yahaya, along with other media leaders, affirmed their commitment to exposing corrupt practices and collaborating with relevant agencies to eradicate corruption in the nation.
