Operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime Squad of the Delta State Police Command have rescued a 27-year-old woman who was abducted along the Ibusa/Ogwashi-Uku forest axis.

The rescue operation was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, in Asaba.

According to the statement, the victim, a resident of Ibusa in Oshimili North Local Government Area, was kidnapped and held at a building site near the Oboshi River along the Ibusa/Ogwashi-Uku Road on March 12, 2026.

Following credible intelligence, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, directed the squad to ensure the victim’s safe rescue and apprehend those responsible.

Acting on the directive, operatives tracked the kidnappers to their hideout on March 19. On sighting the police team, the suspects opened fire but were overpowered by superior police response, forcing them to flee and abandon the victim.

The woman was rescued unharmed and taken to a general hospital for medical attention, while efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects are ongoing.

In a separate incident, police arrested a suspected armed robber after a distress call was received by the Divisional Police Officer of Owa-Oyibu Division on March 18.

The suspect, identified as Sunday Blessing, alongside two accomplices still at large, allegedly robbed a Point-of-Sale operator of ₦600,000 at gunpoint along Diffrey Road near Ebu Owa Market.

Police operatives swiftly responded to the report, leading to the arrest of Blessing. A locally made Beretta pistol was recovered from him.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue, while efforts are underway to apprehend his accomplices.(PGSNEWS)
