The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council, says it has maintained a collaborative relationship with the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) to ensure adequate dissemination of information to the public.
This is contained in a statement signed by Ijeoma Tubosia Ph.D, Secretary NUJ Rivers State Council.
The Chairman of the Council Comrade Paul Bazia -Nsaneh who stated this when the Leadership of PHED visited the Council, assured them of continuous collaboration.
"the Council under my watch will continue to collaborate with your organisation to ensure optimal performance."
The NUJ Chairman used the opportunity to invite the PHED to the monthly Congress to speak to members on the issues surrounding the power sector in the State.
Earlier, the Management of PHED led by the Head of Human Relations, Mrs Ajere Angela said the essence of the visit is to move the existing cordial relationship with NUJ to another level.
Mrs Ajere noted that the role of media in National Development is sacrosanct and pivotal in area of communication and information dissemination.
According to her, the PHED's partnership with NUJ will help the public know the truth about the challenges and issues surrounding the power sector and create a clearer understanding.
" If we partner with NUJ, it will help us to serve our customers better because the right information will be put outside" she said.
" Because journalists under NUJ carries out investigation before they publish, they will help us build trust and loyalty with our customers" she added.
She however, assured her organisation's commitment in providing steady power to the people as soon as the National greed improves.
