The Kaduna State Government has inducted 1,800 newly recruited primary health care workers to strengthen health service delivery across the state’s 23 local government areas.

The Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board, Professor Bello Yusuf Jamoh, said the induction training is part of a broader strategy to expand access to quality health care and reduce maternal, infant and child mortality.

According to him, the training was conducted across the three senatorial zones—Zaria, Kaduna Central and Kafanchan—to ensure comprehensive capacity building and the effective deployment of qualified personnel to primary health care centres.

Professor Jamoh explained that the programme is designed to familiarize the new recruits with modern health care standards, including the use of improved medical tools and digital equipment now available at primary health care facilities.

He noted that the health workers would be posted to primary health care centres across the state to strengthen service delivery, particularly at the community level.

The executive secretary further disclosed that the state government has commenced a sustained recruitment drive and plans to engage additional health workers annually to address workforce shortages and improve overall health outcomes.

He urged the newly inducted personnel to uphold professional ethics, remain committed to service, and support government efforts to improve residents’ quality of life.

Professor Jamoh also commended Governor Senator Uba Sani for prioritizing the health sector through the renovation and upgrading of primary health care centres, as well as the recent salary enhancement for health workers.

Traditional leaders in the state have praised the governor for approving the recruitment, describing it as a significant boost to health care delivery.

Similarly, the Garkuwan Zaman Lafiyar Arewa and founder of a Kaduna-based non-governmental organisation, Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru, welcomed the initiative, saying it would help address the shortage of health personnel in the state.

He also commended the government for equipping primary health care centres with modern facilities and called on residents to support efforts aimed at strengthening the state’s health system.
