Fresh Panic in Southern Kaduna as Bandits Kidnap Nursing Mother, Infant, Shoot Three in Midnight Raid

Residents of Gidan Tama community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been thrown into fresh fear after armed bandits invaded the area in the early hours of Wednesday, abducting several villagers, including a married woman and her months-old baby, while leaving three others with gunshot wounds.

The attack, which reportedly occurred around 2am, is said to be the second assault on the community within 10 days, deepening anxiety among locals who say they now live in constant dread.

According to a security update shared by counter-insurgency tracker Bakatsine, the assailants stormed the community under the cover of darkness, firing sporadically before moving from house to house.

“Last night around 2AM, bandits attacked Gidan Tama community in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State,” the alert stated. “Three residents were shot and injured, while several others were abducted including a married woman and her months old infant child.”

Community members described the incident as traumatic, lamenting that the attackers operated for several minutes without resistance. A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the sound of gunshots sent families scrambling for safety.

“We are no longer sleeping with our two eyes closed. Once it is night, everyone becomes anxious because we don’t know who will be next,” the source said.

Southern Kaduna has witnessed recurring attacks by armed groups in recent years, with rural communities bearing the brunt of kidnappings and shootings.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies in Kaduna State had yet to issue an official statement on the latest incident, leaving residents hoping for swift intervention to prevent further bloodshed.(Rulers World TV)
