Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has ordered the immediate dismissal of the Driver that caused the unfortunate accident involving about 13 journalists in the last two weeks, which left the Channels Television Cameraman dead while several others were injured.
The Governor disclosed this yesterday when he paid a condolence visit to the residence of Late Kani Ben of Channels Television where he said, he can’t forgive the driver that caused the unfortunate accident through reckless driving.
He said the late Channels Television Cameraman is a complete gentleman that gave his best towards promoting the journalism profession and exhibited professionalism throughout his life.
Governor Bala prayed to God Almighty to give the families of Late Kani Ben and NUJ family the courage to bear the irreparable loss and accept it in good faith.
Governor Bala supported the family of Late Kani Ben with N3m for burial arrangements and N2m to his family, making a total sum of N5m .
Responding on behalf of the family, one of the elder brothers of Late Kani Ben, Mr Tamui Ben Sylvanus commended the Governor not only for personally visiting the house to condole them but for shouldering all the medical bills of the victims and his support since the accident occured.
Mr Sylvasnus however appealed to the Governor to consider getting an appointment with the wife of Late Kani Ben because she is jobless despite the fact she is a graduate, so as to take care of their two kids.
Echo Express recalled that the accident involving the journalists occurred while they were on the inspection and Commissioning of projects executed by the North East Department Commission, NEDC in Bauchi State.
