As only thing that is permanent in life is change, the tenure of Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu as Osun State NUJ Council Chairman ended and election was conducted to bring in the new executive on Tuesday 17th February, 2026 at the Osun State NUJ Press Center.
The voting started around 10:00AM between Alhaji Sofiu Abdulganiyu from Ministry of Information and Dr. Aboderin Adeyemi from Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) for the post of Chairman and Mr. Akindoju Olalekan from RAVE FM and Mr. Lateef Dada from Correspondence Chapel for the post of Secretary, while Mr. Saheed Adegboje the only candidate for the post of Treasurer who won unopposed.
To commence the exercise, 233 members were accredited to cast their votes for the candidates of their choice.
Dr. Aboderin won with 126 votes against Alhaji Sofiu Abdulganiyu who had 98 votes and was declared winner and the new Chairman of Osun State NUJ Council.
While Mr. Akindoju Lekan won with 122 votes against Mr. Lateef Dada who had 112 votes.
Inauguration was conducted immediately after the declaration of the winners at the Press Center.
Many members expressed their joy, both winners and the losers showed maturity and congratulated the winners.
The new sworn in chairman promised better packages for all the members which include educational progression and uplift of the Press Center.
