Sokoto State is set to host the presidential campaign flag-off of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general election, amid concerns raised by the party over possible security threats to the event.
The party’s Campaign Committee Spokesman, Dahiru Maishanu, said the ADC had secured a venue for the rally and urged supporters to remain calm.
Maishanu said the party had also approached the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to address concerns over possible disruption of the campaign event.
Meanwhile, the Sokoto State Police Command confirmed receiving a formal request from the rally organisers, stating that the state’s Commissioner of Police had directed the provision of adequate security for the event.
The campaign flag-off is expected to attract ADC leaders, supporters and political stakeholders from across the country as the party begins its nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
