Helicopter Reportedly Crashes In Ondo, Casualties Yet To Be Confirmed

Several people were feared dead on Monday after a helicopter reportedly crashed in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The incident was said to have occurred in the coastal community, triggering panic among residents as emergency and security agencies began efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.

However, details of the incident remained sketchy as of press time, with the identity of the helicopter, the number of people on board and the exact location of the crash yet to be officially confirmed.

A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that a helicopter had crashed in Igbokoda but said residents were still trying to establish further details.

“Yes, it is true. A helicopter crashed at Igbokoda, Ondo State, but we don’t know the exact place and other details,” the community leader said.

Efforts to obtain confirmation from relevant authorities were ongoing as of press time.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, said he was not aware of the reported incident when contacted.

Abayomi, however, said he would make further inquiries and get back to journalists after obtaining more information.

As of press time, there was no official confirmation of any casualty or information regarding the aircraft involved in the reported crash.

Authorities are expected to provide further details as efforts to verify the incident and ascertain the fate of those who may have been aboard the helicopter continue.(City Mirror News)
