The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media alleging that its Chairperson, Mrs. Christiana Binga, directed teachers to submit photocopies of their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) or face salary deductions.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Jalingo, the Board described the claim as a deliberate misrepresentation of the Chairperson’s remarks, insisting that no such directive was ever given.
TSUBEB clarified that Mrs. Binga only encouraged teachers and education personnel to obtain their PVCs to enable them exercise their constitutional right to vote during elections, stressing the importance of civic responsibility and active participation in the democratic process.
The Board further stated that the Chairperson specifically instructed Education Secretaries not to demand PVCs from teachers but to encourage them to register and obtain their voter cards solely for electoral participation.
It urged teachers, education stakeholders and the public to disregard the viral report and rely only on information released through official TSUBEB communication channels.
TSUBEB reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of teachers, quality basic education and the protection of the constitutional rights of all citizens.(The palace news)
