Members of the Jigawa Online Media Chapel on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Hamisu Muhammad Gumel, in his office in Dutse.The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Chapel, Sani Labaran.
The visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between the online media community and the Jigawa State Government.In his address, Labaran commended Governor Umar Namadi for his commitment and tireless efforts toward the establishment of the Jigawa Online Media Chapel in the state.
He noted that the creation of the Chapel marks a significant milestone in recognizing the growing influence of online journalism in Jigawa.
Labaran also applauded the role played by the Chief Press Secretary and the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Jigawa State Council, Isma’il Ibrahim Dutse.
According to him, both leaders took major responsibilities in facilitating the formation of the Chapel and ensuring a smooth inaugural process.
The Chairman said the online media platform has become a critical voice in informing, educating, and engaging the public on government policies and programmes.
He further appealed to the state government to extend its support to the Chapel to enable members to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
Labaran stressed that with proper backing, the Chapel will help promote transparency, accountability, and development in the state.
Responding, the Chief Press Secretary, Malam Hamisu Muhammad Gumel, expressed appreciation for the visit and welcomed the delegation warmly.
Gumel reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the Union and all media organizations operating in the state.
He said the role of the Online Media Chapel in the open-government approach of the Umar Namadi administration cannot be overemphasized.“We are ready to support you the same way we are supporting all other media organizations in the state.
As you know, every media is important to this government, and we are always ready for you,” Gumel stated.The CPS also urged members of the Jigawa Online Media Chapel to discharge their duties with professionalism and strict adherence to the ethics of journalism.
He added that responsible reporting will not only benefit the media community but also contribute meaningfully to the growth and image of Jigawa State.(guaranteemedia)
