The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has offered clarification on the delay in officially receiving Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, into the ruling party.
Speaking during an interview on TVC Politics, Yilwatda said the delay was a strategic move tied to religious and regional considerations, particularly the upcoming Ramadan fast.
“We decided to clear the North first because Ramadan is coming, and most of the people in the North are Muslims.
“Ramadan is a very sensitive period, so we pleaded that we finish with the northern governors who defected before moving to the South,” he stated.
Yilwatda dismissed speculation that the delay was linked to internal party dynamics or the lingering influence of former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, over party affairs in the state.
“It has nothing to do with Sim not having control. It is about strategy and understanding the sensitivities of each community,” he said.
The APC chairman assured party faithful that Governor Fubara’s official reception into the APC would take place once the current activities in the North are concluded.
