The United Nations Children Education Fund (UNICEF) has disclosed that access to quality early learning remains a significant challenge in Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, saying every child, regardless of background, has equitable access to quality early childhood education.
This was disclosed on Tuesday by Sokoto UNICEF chief of field office Dr. Michael Juma at a workshop organised by UNICEF in collaboration with the Sokoto State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on media dialogue as a step in raising public awareness, sustaining policy, and fostering community engagement in early childhood education in Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states.
The high-level advocacy and media dialogue workshop has the theme “Strengthening Early Childhood Education and Access to Quality Education” in Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States
"It is essential to recognise that access to quality early learning remains a significant challenge in Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara, particularly for children residing in disadvantaged communities.”
“We aim to foster political will for enhanced public investment, innovative strategies, and increased parental and community support, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has equitable access to quality early childhood education throughout Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States,” he revealed.
Dr. Michael Juma appreciated the efforts of the Sokoto State governor for his support of education in the state.
“Every child should have free early child care education (ECCE),” he mentioned
