Benue State governor, Hyacinth Alia, has approved the appointment of Prof. Timothy Terseer Alabar as new Vice Chancellor of the State-owned Father Adasu University, Makurdi (FAUM), formerly Benue State University (BSU).
A statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, on Tuesday, said Alia made the approval following due process leading to the appointment as was carried out by the Governing Board of University and other relevant authorities.
The statement said the appointment takes immediate effect.
Parts of the statement read, “Professor Alabar who is currently the Dean Postgraduate School, FAUM hails from Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
“The Professor of Marketing who started his academic practice with the Father Adasu University from 1999 till date has previously held different positions of responsibilities including Dean, Faculty of Administration & Management; Acting Vice-Chancellor; Head, Department of Business Management, Benue State University, Acting Chairman Consultant Services Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies; Deputy Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences; Coordinator, Post Graduate Diploma in Management, Department of Business Management; Examination Officer, Post Graduate Diploma in Management,” Kula said.
Congratulating the new Vice Chancellor, Governor Alia charged him to ensure he provides visionary, ethical, and inclusive leadership that will advance academic excellence, and foster cutting-edge research, and nurture character as well as competence.
