The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency says it is not registering new intending pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj as being speculated.
The Agency said in a statement on Tuesday, that the 300 additional slots allocated to the state by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), were specifically allocated to intending pilgrims who had earlier deposited their Hajj fares but could not be registered due to the unavailability of slots at the time of registration.
It stressed that the additional allocation is not for fresh registration or new applicants, but intended to accommodate eligible intending pilgrims who had already made payments, but unable to secure seats.
The Agency, therefore, urged members of the public, particularly intending pilgrims, to disregard rumours and unverified information suggesting that the Agency has commenced new registration for the 2027 Hajj.(People's Daily)
