Governor Dapo Abiodun Appoints Kehinde Onasanya as New Head of Service for Ogun State

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has appointed Kehinde Olufemi Onasanya, a seasoned journalist, as the new Head of Service in the state. Onasanya, an active member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, previously served as the Head of Governor’s Press Crew during former Governor Gbenga Daniel’s administration from 2003 to 2011.

The appointment was confirmed in a statement by Tokunbo Talabi, the Secretary to the Ogun State Government. Onasanya succeeds Kolawole Fagbohun, who retired after a distinguished career in public service. Prior to this appointment, Onasanya was the Permanent Secretary at the Bureau of Political Affairs and Administration.

Onasanya began his civil service career as an Information Officer, Grade Level 08, on December 2, 1993. He advanced through the ranks to become a Director on Grade Level 17, before being appointed as Permanent Secretary on October 2, 2020.

A distinguished professional and media manager, Onasanya is also an astute administrator and a member of several professional bodies, including the NUJ and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations. His tenure as Permanent Secretary saw him contribute to various agencies such as the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs and the Bureau of Political Affairs and Administration.

Onasanya’s accolades include the prestigious Ogun State Award in May 2006, and he was the first runner-up the following year. In 1999, he was recognized as the best reporter in Ogun State in the House of Assembly category by the NUJ, Ogun State Council.
